                                                             Trip Description
Pokhara:
Pokhara is a city closely located in central Nepal at 28.25 N, 83.99 E,, 198 km west of Kathmandu. It is the third largest city after Kathmandu and Biratnagar. It is the Headquarter of Kaski District, Gandaki Zone and the Western Development Region. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. Pokhara is situated in the northwestern corner of the Pokhara Valley, which is a widening of the Seti Gandaki valley The Seti River and its tributaries have dug impressive canyons into the valley floor, which are only visible from higher viewpoints or from the air.
No other place do mountains have such rapid variation of altitude than in Pokhara. In this area, within 30 km, the elevation rises from 1000 m to over 7500 m. The Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, each with peaks over 8000 m, can be seen from Pokhara and there is a lake named Phewa Lake, three caves (Mahendra, Bat and Gupteswor) and an impressive falls(Patale Chhango or Devi's Fall) where the water from the Phewa Lake thunders into a hole and disappears. Due to this sharp rise in altitude the area of Pokhara has one of the highest precipitation rates of the country (over 4000 mm/year). Even within the city there is a noticeable difference in the amount of rain between the south of the city by the lake and the north at the foot of the mountains. The climate is sub-tropical but due to the elevation the temperatures are moderate: the summer temperatures average between 25 - 35°C, in winter around 5 - 15°C.
Pokhara has become a major tourist hub of Nepal, more than making up for the loss of its trading importance. The city offers a combination of nature and culture with a distinct tourist district in the southern subdivisions of Baidam, Lakeside and Damside. It is mostly known as starting and ending point for Annapurna treks.
There is only one airport in Pokhara which is Pokhara Airport which is situated in the middle of town serving flights to Kathmandu, Jomsom, Manang, Bhairahawa and Bharatpur. Helicopters to Manang and Jomsom are also available for charter. In addition there are many public buses running locally and long haul buses links to many destination of the country.

Chitwan National Park
Royal Chitwan National Park stands today as a successful testimony of nature conservation in South Asia. This is the first national park of Nepal established in 1973 to preserve a unique ecosystem significantly valuable to the whole world. The park covering a pristine area of 932 sq. km is situated in the subtropical inner Terai lowlands of southern central part of Nepal. The park has gained much wider recognition in the world when UNESCO included this area on the list of World Heritage Site in 1984.
Formerly, the Chitwan valley was well known for big game and was exclusively managed as a hunting reserve for the Rana Prime Ministers and their guests until 1950. In 1963, the area south of Rapti was demarcated as a rhinoceros sanctuary. In 1970, His late Majesty King Mahendra had approved in principle the creation of Royal Chitwan National Park.

The park consists of churia hills, ox-bow lakes, flood plains of Rapti, Reu and Narayani rivers. The Churia hill rises gradually towards the east from 150 m to over 800 m. The lower but most rugged Someshwor hills occupy most of the western portion of the park. The flood plains of Chitwan are rich alluvial. The park boundaries have been delineated by the Narayani and Rapti rivers in the north and west, and the Reu river and Someshwor hills in the south and south-west. It shares its eastern border with Parsa Wildlife Reserve.

Nagarkot
Nagarkot, located 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu, is one of the most scenic spots in Bhaktapur district and is renowned for its spectacular sunrise view of the Himalaya when the weather is clear. Visitors often travel to Nagarkot from Kathmandu to spend the night so that they can be there for the breathtaking sunrise.
Nagarkot is an international tourist destination with spectacular views of the whole Langtang range, sunrise on the mountains and sunset views. We can see the panoramic views of the captivating landscapes and hills with the Kathmandu valley. You can breathe the cool mountain breeze in the resort town of Nagarkot. There are resorts from top-end quality to decent lodges to accommodate you and eat different cuisines.
It is best to travel by private-hire cars and taxis to Nagarkot. Tourist shuttle buses also operate. From the international airport, it should take about 40 mins and from the city center, about an hour. A scenic drive via the ancient city of Bhaktapur and tiny villages along meandering mountain roads is a journey by itself, before arriving at Nagarkot.

Dhulikhel
Dhulikhel is a small town with a long history. Records show that it has been around for more than 500 years. The artistic skill and urban ethos of its Newar inhabitants have created a place of charm and beauty. Streets lined with bare-brick houses, carved wooden windows, sloping title roofs, pagoda temples and sacred statues everywhere. You will think you have wandered into a cultural theme park.
Dhulikhel is a typical Newari town with nearby Tamang villages. It is situated 30 km. east of Kathmandu on the side of Arniko Highway on the way towards Tibet. Dhulikhel is popular for its natural beauty and ancient traditions. The Himalayan ranges from the twin crest of Mt. Langtang in the west to the Mt. Everest in the east can be clearly viewed in a clear day. Dhulikhel is ideal for snow-capped peaks, sunrise, sunset and it is different from any other place. One can say Dhulikhel is where the peaks speak.
Dhulikhel is situated at the foothills of the Panchkhal valley, about 21 miles east of Kathmandu on the Chinese-built Arniko Highway which leads to Tibet. On the way one passes Banepa, another former medieval city-kingdom that once boasted of diplomatic relations with China's Ming dynasty. Old Dhulikhel is a close traditional Newar settlement of remarkable architectural consistency with its four to five-storeyed brick mansions built in an almost Victorian style.

Bhaktapur:
As the Name 'Bhaktapur' would suggest, it's the city of devotees. Infact, everywhere in Nepal one witnesses a fine blend of history, culture and religion entwined together. Covering an area of 4 Square miles. The city lies about 14 km east of Kathmandu. It is at a height of about 1400m and mototransport is available for the visitors.

About Kathmandu
With half a million people, Kathmandu is Nepal's biggest and most cosmopolitan city, a meeting place of a dozen ethnic groups, and the home town of the Newars. Nepal's master craftsmen and traders extraordinaire. Trade indeed, created Kathmandu for at least a thousand years it controlled the most important caravan route between Tibet and India - and trade has always funded its Newar artisans. Little wonder, perhaps that Kathmandu has so deftly embraced the tourist business.
Tradition has it that old Kathmandu was laid out in the shape of a khukuri knife. Positioned at what would be the hilt of the knife is Durbar Square -a non- stop carnival set amidst temples, monuments and the fonner royal palace while the city's oldest neighbourhoods stretch northeast and south- west New Road, the city's best-known shopping street, runs east from the square. Kathmandu's budget hotels are concentrated in two areas: Thamel, north of Durbar Square in a new part of town, and Jhochhen, better known as Freak Street, immediately south of the square. Suburban Kathmandu sprawls mainly east of Kantipath, the main north-south thoroughfare, and is dominated by two landmarks, the Royal Palace and the Tudikhel (parade ground) .Most of the expensive hotels, restaurants and airline offices huddle along Durbar Marg, the broad boulevard running south from the palace gate. West of the Bishnumati River is not, strictly speaking, part of Kathmandu, but the hilltop temple of Swayambhu is close enough to be reached easily on foot.
Arriving by air at Tribhuwan International Airport, 5 km east of the city centre, you1l first have to deal with immigration. An exchange window in the immigration hall cashes travellers' cheques. Baggage claim is downstairs, where if you're quick you might be able to grab a trolley. The bank, to the right as you exit customs, changes money at rates slightly lower than those in town. Nearby is a government tourist information desk and a desk operated by Travellers' Nepal, which hands out free magazines and city maps. Taxi fares into town are quasi-fixed buy a coupon from the cooperative association desk and present it to one of the member drivers. Blue (Sajha) buses offer a cheap but inconvenient alternative. They depart from the main intersection at the end of the airport drive (a 200m walk) and drop passengers off at the City Bus Park, a good lkm from most guest houses.
